1995 PSLE RESULTS

1. This year, 42,403 Primary 6 pupils comprising 34,899 pupils from the EM1 and EM2 courses and 7,504 pupils from the EM3 course, sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Of these, 39,961 pupils (or 94.2%) have been assessed as suitable to proceed to secondary school as compared to 92.9% in 1994; 59.0% are eligible for the Special or Express courses and 35.2% for the Normal (Academic) or Normal (Technical) courses.

2. There are 2,442 pupils (or 5.8%) who are assessed to be not yet ready for secondary school in 1996 or more suited for vocational training. Of these, 1,953 will be given another year in Primary 6 to consolidate their basic language and mathematics skills. The remaining 489 who are overaged will be enrolled in basic vocational training courses offered by the Institute of Technical Education.
