Question
To ask the Minister for Education what were the sample sizes, broken down by university and degree, which formed the basis of the 2009 Graduate Employment Survey published by the Ministry on the employment status of graduates from the three public universities.
Response
A total of about 11,000 graduates were surveyed, and the number of graduates by course / university surveyed is proportionate to enrolment. Of the 11,000 surveyed, about 8,500 responses were valid and reported on, thus the overall response rate was 77%. For results to be reported, the sample size for each degree from each university should meet two criteria — a minimum of 70% of those surveyed, and a minimum of 20 completed or useable responses.
