Schools to Adopt Balanced Approach During School Vacations
I refer to the recent letters on homework and activities conducted during school vacations.
Schools generally should not be conducting compulsory lessons or tests during the school vacations. They do however make use of part of the school vacation period to conduct remedial or enrichment classes and co-curricular activities such as camps and overseas exchanges.
When schools conduct such activities during vacations, they do so after considering the need for some students to be given additional support or enrichment in their development. In planning these activities, schools try to adopt a balanced approach and ensure that enough breaks are provided to students and teachers.
MOE will remind schools to be judicious in planning class activities during the school vacations.
