Admission of Integrated Programme Students to Polytechnics
- We refer to Mr Song Jia Hao’s query (“What route is open to poly for IP student?”, ST Forum, 20 May) on whether Integrated Programme (IP) students could apply for admission to a polytechnic without the O-Level certificate.
- We would like to assure Mr Song and other IP students that our polytechnics do admit students who have not taken the O-Levels. The polytechnics will consider these applicants based on factors such as the results of their school-based assessments, as well as their passion and interest in the subject applied for. The polytechnics will, among other things, also consider certificates and documents issued by the individual IP schools, as these will be useful in presenting a holistic picture of the student’s abilities and achievements in school.
- We wish to thank Mr Song for his feedback, which has given us the opportunity to clarify the matter with other IP students who may have similar concerns. If Mr Song has any further queries, we invite him to contact MOE’s Customer Service Centre at 6872 2220.
