Registration for the industry briefing is closed.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) will move a Private Education (PE) Bill in Parliament in the second half of 2009 to institute a new regulatory regime for the private education sector. The move is aimed at improving the quality of our private education sector and to enhance Singapore’s reputation as a global education hub.
To provide an overview of the PE Bill and an outline of the proposed regulatory features, a briefing has been scheduled for all Private Education Institutions (PEIs) offering the following programmes:
- Degree and diploma (whether full-time or part-time basis);
- Full-time post-secondary certificate;
- Full-time preparatory courses for the purpose of preparing students for entrance/placement tests for joining MOE mainstream schools, or for external examinations; and
- Full-time primary or secondary education wholly or substantially in accordance with a foreign or international curriculum, i.e. foreign system schools.

Relevant PEIs are to register for the briefing by Fri 13 Mar 2009. Admission shall be allowed only upon confirmation of registration from MOE. For enquiries, please write to us at moe_cpe@moe.gov.sg
During the briefing, presentations will be given on the requirements and obligations of the PEIs under the mandatory enhanced registration framework and on the voluntary quality assurance certification scheme, EduTrust. There will be a Question-and Answer Session following the presentations where PEIs can seek clarifications on the information given.
Each PEI may send a maximum of two representatives, by filling in and submitting the registration form. Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis; confirmation of registration will be sent via email.
