  2. What is the size of a GEP class?

The average class size is 25 pupils.

  3. How are pupils posted to the schools in the GEP?

In the primary GEP, if the pupil is from a school that offers the programme, then the pupil could choose to remain in the school. A pupil would be posted to a school of his/her choice as long as there is a vacancy. If there are more applicants than vacancies, other criteria would apply. A pupil applying for a SAP school would be given preference if he/she comes from a SAP school. Likewise for a pupil applying for a single-sex school if he/she comes from a single-sex school. All else being equal, distance of school from home is an important factor.

  4. If my child is not posted to a school of choice, can the parents appeal for a re-posting?

Parents can appeal. However, whether their appeal is successful would depend on the number of vacancies in the school of their choice. The appeal form can be downloaded here. (52kb .pdf)

  5. Is the GEP the same in all GEP schools?

The GEP is essentially the same in all GEP schools. Officers of the Gifted Education Branch and GEP teachers meet to develop the curriculum and to ensure that a comparable standard is maintained in all GEP schools. The difference in the GEP schools lies mainly in the types of co-curricular activities offered and the school ethos.
