Enrichment Activities: Mathematics Enrichment Workshops
Aim
The aim of the event is to help mathematically talented pupils to further extend their interest and knowledge in mathematics.
Objectives
- to inspire and motivate pupils by exposing them to the beauty and variety of mathematics
- to impart the knowledge and skills for the early pursuit of mathematics
- to provide a supportive environment for interaction among pupils who love mathematics
Programme Description
The 2-day non-residential Mathematics camp is held during the first term holidays. Schools with School-Based Gifted Education (SBGE) select participants for the camp. All camp activities are conducted within the school premises.
At the workshops, pupils
- learn exciting mathematical ideas not usually covered in the secondary school mathematics syllabus
- gain in mathematical understanding, skills, and confidence - whether in preparation for a possible career in mathematics or science, in training for math competitions, or simply out of interest for the subject
- get a chance to study with mathematics professors & experts
- meet and make friends, discovering common interests and purposes, and learning from each other
