Enrichment Activities: Mathematics Enrichment Camp
Aim
The aim of the camp is to help mathematically gifted pupils to further extend their interest and knowledge in mathematics.
Objectives
- to inspire and motivate pupils by exposing them to the beauty and variety of mathematics
- to impart the knowledge and skills for the early pursuit of mathematics
- to provide a supportive environment for interaction among pupils who love mathematics
Programme Description
The 2-day non-residential Mathematics camp is held during the first term holidays. Each secondary GEP school selects participants for the camp. All camp activities are conducted within the school premises.
At the camp, pupils
- learn exciting mathematical ideas not usually covered in the secondary school mathematics syllabus
- gain in mathematical understanding, skills, and confidence - whether in preparation for a possible career in mathematics or science, in training for math competitions, or simply out of interest for the subject
- get a chance to study with mathematics professors & experts
- meet and make friends, discovering common interests and purposes, and learning from each other
