Enrichment Activities: Mathematics Enrichment Camp
Aim
The aim of the Mathematics Enrichment Camp is to expose pupils to various problem-solving strategies and to apply mathematical concepts to real-life problems.
Objectives
- to reinforce concepts learned in the classroom
- to promote higher order thinking through the application of mathematical concepts to real-life problems
- to provide opportunities for the learning of the same topics in greater depth and breadth
- to provide opportunities for like minds to interact and exchange ideas in solving mathematical problems
Programme Description
This is a non-residential camp jointly organized by the Gifted Education Branch and the 9 GEP schools. The 1-day camp is held at the end of Term One, with each primary GEP school sending 10 to 12 participants.
At the camp, participants will
- work in groups on the following activities : Mathematics Communications, Mathematics in Action, Mathematics Relay and Mathematics Quiz
- solve mathematical puzzles at the station games
Target Group
Primary 6 GEP pupils who have strong interest in mathematics and outdoor activities.
