Enrichment Activities: Learning Journey to the Subordinate Courts

Aim

The Subordinate Courts Visit aims to expose pupils to the judicial processes of the Subordinate Courts in Singapore.

Objectives

• to gain an understanding that the justice system belongs to the community, and exists to serve it
• to understand how the justice system serves as the custodian of justice and the rule of law
• to deepen pupils' appreciation of the need for rules and laws to protect the rights of citizens

Programme Description

The visit comprises a video session, and a talk by a judge on issues related to justice and fairness. Pupils will also have the opportunity to witness the enactment of courtroom processes at a criminal trial on the day of their visit.
