MOE Teaching Award

Ministry of Education Teaching Award (MOE TA) recipients can look forward to a fulfilling career in the Education Service. They will be given opportunities for higher responsibilities according to their abilities. The full time undergraduate studies will be tenable at a local university.

Applicants must come from 1 of the categories below:

Teaching Subjects

MOE Teaching Award recipients will be trained to teach 2 subjects (i.e. subjects in the curriculum of a secondary school / junior college) at NIE. The subjects include:

The MOE Teaching Award currently does not offer Physical Education as a teaching subject.

Value of Award

For GCE ‘A’ Level / Polytechnic Diploma Holders, Year 1 or Year 2 undergraduates

Year 3 undergraduates (for those proceeding for Honours)

Honours undergraduates / Masters graduates

Length of Bond

Recipients of the MOE Teaching Award are required to serve a 4 year bond, regardless of award category.

Teaching Award Application

Application Period

MOE Teaching Award applications for all current Year 1 to Year 4 undergraduates, Master’s Student and Polytechnic diploma holders and ‘A’ level graduates are now open. All applications must reach MOE by 30 September 2010.

Students who took their GCE ‘A’ level examinations in November 2009 are also welcome to apply for the Teaching Award.

Teaching Award Application Procedures

For ‘A’ level graduates, polytechnic diploma holders, Year 1 and 2 undergraduates.

  1. This includes subjects such as Psychology, Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, Theatre Studies, Communications and New Media, Communication Studies, European Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, Business Administration with Accountancy Specialisation and Accountancy.
  2. Psychology undergraduates will be assigned primary specialisation training in NIE.
