Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) Teaching Scholars Programme

1. Overview

The Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) is a 4-year sponsored Double Major undergraduate programme. It equips you with an academic degree in arts or science-based subjects, with a teaching qualification to teach in primary or secondary schools.

Graduands will receive a Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) jointly conferred by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National Institute of Education (NIE).

Programme length: 4 years

Bond length: 4 years

Deployment

You will be deployed to teach at either the primary or secondary level upon graduation.

Over the course of your career, there may be opportunities for you to be re-assigned to teach at another level (for example, primary instead of secondary) depending on organisational requirements or individual career aspirations. We will provide you with the necessary training to prepare you for the new role.

Requirements

You will need to have one of the following qualifications before applying for the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP):

  • GCE A-Level
  • Polytechnic Diploma
  • IB Diploma
  • NUS High School Diploma
  • Other equivalent qualifications

NTU-NIE Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP)

You will receive full sponsorship of your tuition fees for the programme. Recipients of the MOE Teaching Scholarships or Teaching Award will automatically be placed on the NTU-NIE Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP).

The TSP is a four-year programme that augments the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) programme. It is an exclusive scholars programme aimed at preparing tomorrow’s leaders of education. Students placed on the TSP can look forward to a wide range of education-related and overseas developmental opportunities.
