PRIMED FOR IMPROVEMENT

The Programme for Rebuilding and IMproving Existing Schools (PRIME) was launched by MOE in May 1999 to upgrade all schools to current standards so as to provide a conducive learning environment for our students. Estimated to cost $4.5 billion in total, this programme is implemented in phases.

Schools under PRIME will be fitted with more classrooms and upgraded facilities, including computer laboratories, media resource libraries, IT learning resource rooms, pastoral care rooms, and health and fitness rooms. Schools will be networked for Internet access as well. Teachers and students can also look forward to bigger classrooms and staff-rooms, and more areas for interaction.

To date, 222 schools have been included in the seven phases of PRIME. Of these, 192 have completed their upgrading.
